Bergen C
Bergen C engines are available as in-line 6,
8 and 9 cylinder versions with powers from
1440 to 3000kW.
The Bergen C family is one of the most compact and
powerful 250mm bore engines in its class, delivering
330kW per cylinder. Its design exploits
the latest developments in material technology, analysis,
simulation and new production methods.
A CD version is now available that meets IMO
'Clean Design' notation. This has been achieved
through the application of the Miller cycle, an increase
in compression ratio, optimised valve timing, high charge
air pressure and late and fast combustion. This ensures
a good trade-off between fuel consumption, NOx emissions
and particulates.
The simple and robust modular design
with a reduced number of components ensures the Bergen
C is installation friendly, with only a minimum of pipes
and cables for the shipyard to connect.
Designed for long service intervals
– the engine is also simple to maintain. The liner,
piston jacket and cylinder head can be replaced as a
single unit, without disturbing the big end bearing.
